Not to be outdone by Dodge RAM, all new F-150s will come with a bed mounted searchlight so the driver can alert everyone for dozens of miles that there is an F-150 on the road.

I'm digging the LED ring Ford has been doing on their tail lights lately. They've come a long way since...

Kinja'd!!!

those really would have looked better on a VW beetle or PT Cruiser

Oh god, I just realized something

If they have technology to put logos in puddle lights. And we aren't bound to round headlights any more, what's to stop carmakers from making regular headlights have a logo in them?

Imagine if the guy behind you turns on his high beams and suddenly there's a ford logo reflecting out of your rear view mirror.

hell might as well. Lord knows most of those truck beds never see anything other than wax any ways...

I doubt you're actually looking for a practical answer here, but you're getting one anyway because this is the internet, god damn it!

That wouldn't happen because headlights quite purposely are not focused beams of light. They need to disperse light over a broad area, and not completely blind anyone in front of them. This is why the more focused "pencil beams" typically used on some aftermarket fog lights and are very popular with offroad lighting are banned from use on the street, and in most states need to be covered up while on public roads. I was actually ticketed for not having covers on my rack mounted lights on my Jeep years back.

But still. There are some very creative things they could do without necessarily being blinding.

At the very least they could do the equivalent of the merc light up emblem, but two of them.

They could make the light that shape, but it would not project that pattern, if that's what you mean.

Well, yeah obviously projecting a pattern that way would interfere with the ability to see the surface ahead of you. Be very embarrassing for all involved if you missed an obstacle because it was hidden by a 10 foot projected "F".

I was thinking of one of two approaches. Either you simply alter the headlight so it looks like the logo but still project a uniform and diffuse beam. Or you manage to make the beam diffuse but composed of multiple colors to subtly suggest the logo.

The diffuser in the Edge says Edge right in it.
